The Shift Engineer is the first line of defense for process troubleshooting in the semiconductor wafer fabrication factory. This entry-level-to-professional progression role performs structured assignments under direct supervision, applying fundamental theories, principles, and concepts. The engineer develops competence through assigned work and uses existing procedures to solve routine or standard problems, receiving instruction and guidance from others. The role balances production support and troubleshooting, with approximately half of the time spent monitoring and managing work in process (WIP) and half addressing process, equipment, and product-related issues. Through process monitoring, technical troubleshooting, collaboration, and technician development, the position helps maintain process stability, reduce manufacturing disruptions, improve product quality, and enhance operational performance. Due to ITAR regulations, candidates must be U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, lawful permanent residents, or individuals granted asylum or refugee status. The position is eligible for restricted stock unit (RSU) awards and cash bonuses at MACOM’s discretion, subject to individual and company performance.
