About The Position

The San Diego County Sheriff's Office has a current opening for SHERIFF'S PROGRAM COORDINATOR. The Reentry Services Division works within the Sheriff's Office, Detentions Services Bureau, and oversees a wide variety of Title 15 and 24 mandated services to those incarcerated in the seven detention and reentry facilities located throughout the County of San Diego. The division is also responsible for all educational and rehabilitative programs to incarcerated persons and coordinates the Sheriff’s Office's re-entry efforts. Re-entry Services areas include but not limited to: counseling and programming in-custody, laundry, central warehouse, commissary stores, and Pre-Trial Services. The Sheriff's Program Coordinator will be responsible for planning and organizing duties needed to be performed and to clearly communicate current projects, division goals, and expectations of employees' performance. The Sheriff's Program Coordinator will manage general business processes to improve performance, utilize reports to obtain data driven results, aid in the decision-making process for executive staff; manage cost effective workflow and operations; streamline and improve procedures; and foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The position will report directly to the Reentry Services Division Assistant Manager. Currently, the Reentry Services Division is looking to fill a few vacancies that oversee several distinct areas. Reentry Services Division – Facility Operations The Sheriff's Program Coordinator will be responsible for the management of the facility operations areas activities, contract development and maintenance, facilities and project management, inventory and equipment monitoring administration, and other duties as assigned. Reentry Services Division – Counseling Admin & Support The Sheriff's Program Coordinator will be responsible for the management of reentry program and special projects, care coordination, and/or support services.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in business administration, accounting, finance, economics, public administration or a closely related field
  • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible accounting, operations management, budgetary or analytical project management experience
  • Education and experience may substitute for one another on a year-for-year basis
  • Felony convictions will be disqualifying
  • Misdemeanor convictions may be disqualifying depending on type, number, severity, and recency
  • Must have a reputation for honesty and trustworthiness
  • Candidates will be subject to a thorough background investigation which may include a truth verification examination or test
  • Candidates will undergo a background check (including fingerprinting) and a pre-employment medical screening prior to beginning County employment
  • Additional types of background investigations may be conducted based on the job-related activities of the position

Nice To Haves

  • Experience overseeing the analysis and preparation of complex fiscal, budget, or operations projects in a large public agency is highly desirable
