About The Position

Barnes Aerospace is seeking a Sheet Metal Technician for their East Granby OEM location. This is a 1st shift position, Monday-Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. The role involves fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metal products according to blueprints, and requires the use of various measuring and hand tools. The technician will also be responsible for fastening details on aircraft and industrial engine components.

Requirements

• 1-4 years of sheet metal, shop assembly experience
• Ability to lift heavy materials and tools
• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints
• Excellent communication skills and problem-solving ability with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to solve complex issues
• Good attitude and a willingness to learn a new trade or skill

Responsibilities

• Utilize and interpret blueprints to determine how to where to fabricate, assemble and install sheet metal products
• Measure, mark dimensions and lay out materials to be installed using tools such as scribes, micrometers, Vernier, calipers, etc.
• Use hand and power tools to trim, buff, smooth, file and grind metal surfaces and joints of parts that have been assembled to ensure safety and seamless appearance.
• Fasten details on aircraft and industrial engine components using rivets, fasteners, bolts, etc.
• Ability to cross train to support all areas of Sheet Metal Assembly
