About The Position

Barnes Aerospace is seeking a Sheet Metal Technician for their East Granby OEM location. This is a 2nd shift position, Monday-Friday from 3:30 pm to 12:00 am, with a 15% shift differential. The role involves fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metal products according to blueprints, and requires the use of various measuring and hand tools to ensure a seamless appearance and safe assembly of aircraft and industrial engine components.

Requirements

• 1-4 years of sheet metal, shop assembly experience
• Ability to cross train to support all areas of Sheet Metal Assembly
• Ability to lift heavy materials and tools
• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints
• Excellent communication skills and problem-solving ability with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to solve complex issues
• Good attitude and a willingness to learn a new trade or skill

Responsibilities

• Utilize and interpret blueprints to determine how to where to fabricate, assemble and install sheet metal products
• Measure, mark dimensions and lay out materials to be installed using tools such as scribes, micrometers, Vernier, calipers, etc.
• Use hand and power tools to trim, buff, smooth, file and grind metal surfaces and joints of parts that have been assembled to ensure safety and seamless appearance.
• Fasten details on aircraft and industrial engine components using rivets, fasteners, bolts, etc.
