About The Position

Suncoast Center is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented per diem helpline advocate for our Sexual Assault Program. This role is essential to deliver crisis intervention services, advocacy and emotional support to survivors of sexual assault. This is a remote position that involves answering the sexual assault helpline.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required
Knowledge of trauma and impact of domestic and sexual violence
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to develop and maintain cooperative community relationships
Comfortable working with diverse populations.
Ability to work flexible hours and some evenings
Commitment to ethical standards and excellence
Proficient in required computer and technical systems
Must be 21 years of age.
Negative Drug Screening prior to hire and throughout employment.
Clear Criminal Background Check throughout employment with Suncoast Center and local checks prior to hire and annually along with DCF Level II prior to hire and as required by DCF
Must have valid Florida Driver’s License Motor Vehicle checks prior to hire and annually with acceptable driving record maintained throughout employment along with reliable vehicle, valid registration, and valid vehicle insurance.
Computer and technical skills sufficient to perform responsibilities and train others.

Responsibilities

PROVIDE CONFIDENTIAL, TRAUMA-INFORMED CRISIS INTERVENTION AND SUPPORT TO PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SURVIVORS OF SEXUAL ASSAULT.
ASSESS SAFETY NEEDS AND PROVIDE INDIVIDUALIZED SUPPORT, RESOURCES, REFERRALS, AND SAFETY PLANNING.
USE ACTIVE LISTENING, EMPATHY, AND NONJUDGMENTAL COMMUNICATION TO EMPOWER SURVIVORS AND SUPPORT INFORMED DECISION-MAKING.
PROVIDE INFORMATION ON MEDICAL, LEGAL, ADVOCACY, COUNSELING, AND COMMUNITY RESOURCES WHILE RESPECTING SURVIVOR AUTONOMY.
Maintain composure and professional boundaries when supporting callers in crisis.
Maintain confidentiality and comply with organizational policies, ethical standards, and mandated reporting requirements.
Coordinate referrals, warm handoffs, and services with community providers, hospitals, law enforcement, and advocacy programs.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and community partners to promote continuity of care.
Advocate for survivors’ rights, choices, and access to appropriate support.
Coordinate referrals and services with internal programs and community partners.
Maintain professional relationships with community providers and agency staff to promote collaboration and continuity of care.
Maintain accurate client records and service documentation in accordance with agency standards.
Collect and accurately enter survivor service data into required systems.
Support exam room oversight, OSHA compliance, supply inventory, and coordination of maintenance needs.
Participate in staff development, quality assurance, and program meetings to remain current on policies, protocols, and community needs.
Maintain open communication with program leadership regarding operations and service strategies.
Demonstrate accountability, ethical conduct, professionalism, and respect for all individuals.
Adhere to agency policies regarding ethics, supervision, confidentiality, safety, and information security.
Maintain HIPAA compliance and complete required annual training.
Successfully complete ACT (30-hour Florida Council Against Sexual Violence Advocacy Core Training), at least 2 hours of instructor led role-plays, and at least 4 hours of on-the-job training
Complete the required 8 hours of ongoing sexual violence training annually
Perform additional duties as assigned.
