About The Position

The Sewer operates industrial sewing machines while standing to close openings in pillow ticks, comforter shells, and other related products after fillings have been inserted. The role requires accurate, efficient work and a strong focus on product quality and customer expectations. Associates are expected, after initial training, to work with minimal supervision and may be asked to help with other duties or in other departments as needed. The position emphasizes teamwork, clear communication, sound judgment, safety, production efficiency, and product quality. It is based on a manufacturing and production floor, where associates may encounter moving machinery, moderate noise, required hearing-protection areas, changing temperatures, dust, and floating particles.

Requirements

Responsibilities

Ensure that product quality meets specifications.
Follow safety rules and maintain a clean, safe work area.
Perform general-help duties and other job assignments as required.
Load thread, cord, or other materials onto spindles, insert bobbins, and thread machines.
Maintain sewing equipment, including replacing needles, cleaning and oiling machines, and troubleshooting.
Start, operate, or tend industrial sewing machines to join, reinforce, or decorate materials and products.
Guide pillow and comforter shells or shell parts under machine needles and presser feet to sew pieces together.
Sew tags, zippers, and other customer-requested materials.
Check that stitching meets specifications, including stitch count, absence of fraying or puckering, straight closures, proper continuation of existing stitches, and trimming of thread tails as required.
Assist with other duties or work in other departments when needed to meet customer requirements.
