About The Position

The Sewer selects thread, twine, cord, or yarn and threads needles; draws and cuts patterns to specifications; prepares materials by folding, twisting, stretching, or draping them and securing articles for sewing; sews vinyl or canvas pieces to form components; and trims excess threads or edges using scissors or knives.

Requirements

• Ability to handle and move objects using hands and arms to handle, install, position, and move materials and manipulate things.
• Active listening skills, including giving full attention, understanding points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting inappropriately.
• Ability to speak effectively to convey information.
• Finger dexterity to make precisely coordinated movements with one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects.
• Visualization ability to imagine how something will look after it or its parts are moved or rearranged.
• Near vision sufficient to see details at close range, within a few feet.

Responsibilities

• Fold, twist, stretch, or drape material, and secure articles in preparation for sewing.
• Sew together vinyl or canvas pieces to form a component.
