Options Community Services is a non-profit organization dedicated to delivering social services across the Southern Fraser region (Surrey, Delta, White Rock and Langley) from early childhood to seniors. POSITION OVERVIEW Are you passionate about helping immigrants and refugees build a successful future in Canada? As a Settlement Worker, you’ll play a pivotal role in guiding newcomers through their settlement journey, offering crucial information, orientation, and personalized referrals. By fostering community connections, promoting cultural understanding, and advocating for their well-being, you’ll help create a welcoming and inclusive environment. If you're dedicated to empowering newcomers and celebrating diversity, we’d love for you to join our team! Reporting to the Program Manager, the selected candidate will support newcomers by providing vital information on Canadian society, culture, and systems, helping clients navigate services like healthcare, education, and employment. The role also includes advocating for newcomers' well-being, facilitating community integration through group activities, and promoting inclusivity. The Settlement Worker will collaborate with service providers, ensure accessibility through in-person and virtual services, and proactively address barriers. They will maintain accurate client records, adhere to privacy policies, and apply GBA+ principles to ensure equitable and inclusive service delivery. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in social services or a related field
  • At least one year of experience working with newcomers
  • Experience supporting vulnerable populations in multicultural environments
  • Strong skills in conducting assessments
  • Strong skills in navigating settlement resources
  • Strong skills in advocating for client rights
  • Strong skills in fostering community connections
  • Commitment to cultural diversity, ethical service delivery, and promoting self-sufficiency
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in technology and database management
  • Knowledge of GBA+ principles and data privacy protection laws
  • Proficiency in Arabic
  • Undergo a Police Information Check (PIC)
  • Undergo a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice
