About The Position

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics invites applications for Sessional Lecturers to teach specific courses within the ISAP Learning Community during the 2026-2027 Regular Session. These sections are part of an initiative to support the retention and success of First Nations, Inuit, and Metis students in the College of Arts & Science, offering bundled advisory, co-curricular, and curricular programming. The role involves teaching Precalculus Mathematics and Calculus I, with specific schedules and enrollment limits. Additional qualifications related to Indigenous perspectives, collaborative learning, and diverse student cohorts are required.

Requirements

  • Completion of a graduate degree, PhD preferred, in Mathematics & Statistics or related discipline.
  • Possession of relevant teaching or professional experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous community priorities and perspectives.
  • Attention to socio-economic, inter-generational, and educational barriers affecting Indigenous post-secondary cohorts in Saskatchewan.
  • Familiarity with Indigenous perspectives and research methodologies as they connect to relevant academic disciplines.
  • Familiarity with the development of skills for student success in relevant academic disciplines.
  • Demonstrated intercultural competence.
  • A valid driver’s license is required for any off-campus courses.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Mathematics 102.3 (94) Precalculus Mathematics - ISAP Learning Community section during Term 1 (September to December).
  • Teach Math 110 (92) Calculus I - ISAP Learning Community section during Term 2 (January to April).
  • Utilize teaching methods that promote collaborative and peer-to-peer learning in small course cohorts.
  • Adapt teaching methods to accommodate mature student cohorts and students with nonstandard K-12 preparation.
  • Engage in pedagogic praxis, including reflection and reflexive adaptation of teaching.
