About The Position

The Department of Biology is seeking Sessional Lecturers to teach various Biology courses during the 2026-2027 Regular Session. These positions involve delivering lectures, managing course schedules, and potentially working with specific student support programs like the Indigenous Student Achievement Pathways (ISAP). The role requires a Master's degree in Biology or a related field, along with relevant teaching and subject matter experience. Some sections may have specific requirements related to Indigenous perspectives and diverse student cohorts.

Requirements

• Minimum of a Master’s degree in Biology or a related subject.
• Experience in teaching at the post-secondary level.
• Experience in cell biology, genetics, molecular and evolutionary processes (for BIOL 120.3).
• Research or teaching experience in plant diversity, systematics, identification, and evolution (for BIOL 323.3).
• Experience in mammalian ecology, diversity, and evolution (for BIOL 455.3).
• Experience in animal physiology or a related subject (for BIOL 224.3).
• Experience with Mendelian and molecular genetics (for BIOL 226.3).
• Experience in animal ecology, behavior, and the underlying mechanisms (for BIOL 472.3).
• A valid driver’s license is required for any off-campus courses.

Nice To Haves

• A Ph.D. and experience teaching in several sub-disciplines of Biology would be considered an asset.
• A Ph.D. and teaching experience would be considered an asset (for BIOL 120.3).
• A Ph.D. and teaching experience is preferred (for BIOL 323.3).
• Ph.D. and teaching experience preferred (for BIOL 455.3).
• A Ph.D. in Biology or a related subject and/or teaching experience in animal physiology would be considered an asset (for BIOL 224.3).
• Ph.D. and teaching experience preferred (for BIOL 226.3).
• Ph.D. and teaching experience preferred (for BIOL 472.3).
• Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous community priorities and perspectives, and attention to socio-economic, inter-generational, and educational barriers that unequally affect Indigenous post-secondary cohorts in Saskatchewan (for ISAP section).
• Familiarity with Indigenous perspectives and research methodologies as they connect to relevant academic disciplines, and to the development of skills for student success in those disciplines (for ISAP section).
• Experience teaching mature student cohorts and students with nonstandard K-12 preparation in relevant academic disciplines (for ISAP section).
• Experience teaching using methods that promote collaborative and peer-to-peer learning in small course cohorts (for ISAP section).
• Demonstrated intercultural competence and commitment to pedagogic praxis (reflection & reflexive adaptation of teaching) (for ISAP section).

• Deliver lectures for assigned courses.
• Manage course schedules and adhere to delivery modes (Lecture).
• Potentially engage with ISAP programming for BIOL 90.3.
• Prepare and mark course materials.
