About The Position

The University of Hawaii at Manoa, Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) is seeking lecturers to teach undergraduate online or graduate level courses. This is a part-time, temporary, non-tenurial position for the lecturer candidate pool, with assignments as needed and contingent on funding, performance, and staffing requirements. The position covers Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or related field from college or university of recognized standing, with major work in CSD.
  • Demonstrated ability as a teacher.
  • Poise and good address for meeting, collaborating, and conferring with others.
  • Terminal doctoral degree (i.e. PhD or EdD) in Communication Sciences and Disorders or related field from an accredited college or university of recognized standing (for Lecturer B and C).
  • Doctor of Audiology degree from an accredited program in a college or university of recognized standing (for Lecturer B and C).
  • Demonstrated record of teaching at the undergraduate level (for Lecturer B and C).
  • Evidence of scholarly or professional activity (for Lecturer B and C).
  • Demonstrated record of substantial teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate level (for Lecturer C).
  • Extensive scholarly or professional activity (for Lecturer C).
  • Submit original cover letter indicating how you satisfy the minimum and desirable qualifications, CV, copies of licenses and certifications, names and contact information of 5 professional references (including email addresses) and official transcripts (or original documentation from the institution confirming degree).
  • Satisfy employment eligibility verification requirements of the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.
  • Pass reference checks of previous employers.
  • Pass criminal history record checks (for certain positions).

Responsibilities

  • Teach various undergraduate online or graduate level courses in the Dept. of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD).
  • Maintain at least one office hour per week for each class taught.
  • Provide instruction and guidance to meet student learning objectives.
  • Prepare course syllabus and reports related to teaching and student progress.
  • Work under supervision of discipline coordinator/division chairperson in integrating teaching efforts with other instructors in the discipline area.
  • Participate in student and peer evaluations and self-assessment of teaching effectiveness.
  • Perform other scholarly, clinical, and administrative duties as assigned.
