About The Position

This position is for a Sessional Lecturer to co-teach the course FOR307H1S – Forest Insect Ecology & Management. The course covers insect identification and ecology, biodiversity and conservation, invasive species, insect-tree interaction, biological control, pesticide use, and integrated pest management. The estimated course enrollment is 37 students. The appointment dates are from January 1, 2027, to April 30, 2027, with the responsibility for completing any course work and grading not finished by April 30, 2027.

Requirements

  • Preferably holding a Ph.D. or working towards a Ph.D. degree.
  • Extensive experience in forest ecology and entomology.
  • Teaching experience an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Co-teach course with professor.
  • Prepare and deliver lectures.
  • Organize guest speakers.
  • Maintain course notes and readings.
  • Organize lab and fieldwork sessions.
  • Set and mark course assignments, which may include mid-term, essay and final examination or other assignments, with the support of a TA.
  • Compile, record and submit final marks.
  • Be available to students through regular office hours.
