About The Position

This position is for TMU231H1 - Music Theory IV, a course focusing on post-tonal theory and analysis, and the study of compositional practices in music written after 1900. The contract is from January to April 2027. The salary for this position is $19,994.96. The estimated course enrollment is 55 students per section, and TA support is available. This job is posted in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement, with preference given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II and Sessional Lecturer III. Some vacancy announcements are tentative and pending final course determinations and enrollment. If collective agreement rates differ from those posted, the collective agreement rates will prevail. Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in music theory
  • Extensive knowledge of post-tonal theories and music theory pedagogy
  • Demonstrated excellence teaching music theory at the university level

Responsibilities

  • Teach classes as scheduled
  • Administer and evaluate student assignments
  • Prepare and submit final grades in accordance with policy
  • Maintain reasonable hours of student consultation outside scheduled class hours
