About The Position

This is a business course for musicians, focusing on entrepreneurship within the music industry. The course will cover concepts such as incorporation, accounting, taxation, and finance methods. It will analyze commerce models specific to the music industry, review case studies, and require students to formulate and present a business plan. The curriculum will also incorporate research, best practices, and models from the international Music Cities movement.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in Music Business or closely related field
  • Industry experience in the cultural sector, including expert knowledge of business models, accounting, taxation, and publicity relevant for music performers, creators, and producers
  • Experience as an artist in music performance, creation, or production

Responsibilities

  • Define course objectives and materials
  • Provide clear guidelines on course requirements and regulations
  • Teach classes as scheduled
  • Administer and evaluate student assignments
  • Prepare and submit final grades in accordance with policy
  • Maintain reasonable hours of student consultation outside scheduled class hours
