About The Position
This posting is for TMU131H1 - Music Theory II, a course covering chromatic harmony, including modulation, mixture, Neapolitan, and augmented sixth chords. The course will be taught in two sections, both meeting on Mondays and Wednesdays from 11 am to 12 pm and 12 pm to 1 pm, respectively. The contract period is from January to April 2027. The salary for this position is $19,994.96. Each section is estimated to have an enrollment of 65 students, and TA support is available.
Requirements
- Doctoral degree in music theory
- Extensive knowledge of theories of harmony and music theory pedagogy
- Demonstrated excellence teaching music theory at the university level
Responsibilities
- Define course objectives
- Prepare course materials
- Provide clear guidelines on course requirements and regulations
- Teach classes as scheduled
- Administer and evaluate student assignments
- Prepare and submit final grades in accordance with policy
- Maintain reasonable hours of student consultation outside scheduled class hours
