About The Position

ACT245H1S L0101 - Financial Principles for Actuarial Science I (0.5 FCE) covers the term structure of interest rates, cash-flow duration, convexity and immunization, forward and futures contracts, interest rate swaps, and an introduction to investment derivatives and hedging strategies. The estimated course enrollment is up to 300 students, with an estimated 350 hours of TA support contingent on enrollment and class size. The class is scheduled for Tuesdays from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, with a tutorial from 6:00 to 7:00 pm. The delivery method is in person. The sessional dates are from January 1, 2027, to April 30, 2027 (first half).

Requirements

  • Minimum Master’s degree required, PhD preferred in Statistics, Applied Statistics, Actuarial Science, Biostatistics or related discipline.
  • Prior experience teaching at the university level.
  • Prior experience teaching ACT245 or a similar course an asset.
