About The Position

This position is for a Sessional Lecturer to teach the practical sessions for PHY131H1F, Introduction to Physics I. This is a first university physics course designed for students not specializing in Physical or Mathematical Sciences. The course covers topics such as classical kinematics and dynamics, momentum, energy, force, friction, work, power, angular momentum, oscillations, and waves. The delivery method is currently in-person but may change. The appointment is for the Fall 2026 term.

Requirements

  • PhD in Physics required.
  • Previous experience in teaching introductory laboratory physics at the University level required.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience and demonstrated ability in teaching a similar course.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation and delivery of course content for practical sessions.
  • Supervision and training of teaching assistants, including overseeing their DDAH forms.
  • Regular meetings with TAs to ensure smooth lab operations.
  • Collaboration with the teaching team to ensure smooth delivery of labs and course content.
  • Submission of final practical grades.
