About The Position

Metaethics concerns the place of values in the world, and the status of ethics as a field of inquiry. Topics may include: the objectivity of morality; moral psychology; the possibility of ethical knowledge; and meanings of ethical concepts. This is a posting for a Sessional Lecturer position in the Department of Philosophy for the Fall 2026 academic session, in accordance with the Collective Agreement between The Governing Council of the University of Toronto and the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 3902 Unit 3. The position is tentative, pending final course determinations and enrolments.

Requirements

  • PhD in-hand, preferably in philosophy.
  • Prior experience as a course instructor, preferably in Philosophy at U of T.
  • Advanced prior knowledge of the subject matter of the course and topic-related teaching experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Related research and a record of research achievement is considered an asset to this position.

Responsibilities

  • All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours.
  • Completion of any course grading not already finished by December, 2026.
