About The Position

This position represents a 0.25 FCE Sessional Lecturer appointment for the course MSC1090H F Introduction to Computational Biostatistics with R. Two Sessional Lecturers will jointly deliver the course, with the successful candidate teaching half of the course. The goal of this class is to prepare graduate students to perform scientific data analysis. Successful students will learn how to use statistical inference tools to gain insight into their data, as well as be exposed to techniques and best practices to store, manage and analyze data. The course is scheduled to be delivered in person from September 8, 2026, to November 26, 2026. The estimated course enrollment is 80 students, with support from 5 Teaching Assistants.

Requirements

  • PhD degree in Statistics/Biostatistics or Mathematics or related discipline
  • Solid understanding of programming with R
  • Solid understanding of machine learning algorithms
  • Solid understanding of data structures
  • Demonstrated effective teaching experience in a college or university setting

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience teaching computational biostatistics
  • Prior experience teaching graduate students
