Sessional Lecturer - CTL1615H - Introduction to AI in Education

University of TorontoToronto, ON
Onsite

About The Position

This course explores the implications of Artificial Intelligence in Education (AIED). While AI is increasingly present in daily life, its role in education (K-12, higher education, and corporate) is less defined. Some predict AI will enhance teaching and learning through data collection, machine learning, and prediction, while others see potential in support roles like chatbots and intelligent tutors. Concerns exist regarding security, privacy, data collection, decision-making bias, job loss, and loss of control. AI also shows promise in research tools. The course will cover AIED terminology, core concepts, history, current state, practical considerations, applications, and future predictions. Readings will focus on theoretical concepts and the integration and implications of AIED. Key questions include understanding AI definitions and concepts relevant to education, staying current with AI developments in education, and the implications of AI integration today and in the future.
