About The Position

This position is for a Sessional Lecturer for the course FOR3005HS - Stresses in the Forest Environment. The course focuses on the natural functioning of forest systems and the disruption caused by stress factors in tree and forest development. It covers the classification and identification of important stresses such as pollution, forest insects, diseases, and competing vegetation. The role of environmental factors influencing forest health will be examined at the cell, tree, and stand levels. Students will learn to apply principles and techniques for managing disturbed forests in both urban and general forest situations, using an integrated approach to sustaining forest health through laboratory and project assignments.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. degree or extensive experience in forest conservation
  • Teaching experience

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver lectures
  • Organize guest speakers
  • Maintain course notes and readings
  • Set and mark course assignments, which may include mid-term, essay and final examination or other assignments, with the support of a TA
  • Compile, record and submit final marks
  • Be available to students through regular office hours
