About The Position

The Institute of Communication, Culture, Information and Technology (ICCIT) at the University of Toronto Mississauga is seeking qualified candidates for Sessional Lecturer positions for the 2026-27 Fall and Winter session. These are emergency postings in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement. The positions involve all normal duties related to teaching a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course material, supervision of teaching assistants, development and marking of assignments and exams, holding office hours, and maintaining student contact. Instruction will be in-person, requiring travel to UTM.

Requirements

  • Must have completed a graduate degree specific to the subject matter, preferably a PhD.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
  • Experience in teaching a similar topic at the undergraduate level is required.
  • Record of research that reflects the subject matter.
  • Experience and ability to supervise teaching assistants also required.
  • Qualified candidates who are not current University of Toronto students.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12.

Responsibilities

  • Design, administration, and teaching of a university credit course.
  • Preparation and delivery of course material.
  • Supervision of teaching assistants assigned to the course, if applicable.
  • Development, administration, and marking of assignments, tests, and exams.
  • Calculation and submission of grades to university officials.
  • Holding regular office hours.
  • Maintaining reasonable availability for student contact.
  • Travel to UTM to carry out duties.
