About The Position

Seasonal Classic, consistent quality from a winning team! Deer Valley Resort is nestled in the Wasatch Mountains of Utah, in the historic mining town of Park City which has evolved into an exciting and diverse mountain ski town. Our staff consists of locals, transplants, seasonal workers from all 50 states and international students from around the globe. We are a diverse workforce where everyone feels welcome, appreciated, and valued. No matter if you are 14 or 84 years, there is a place for you in the Deer Valley family! (Last year over 1,100 staff members celebrated their fifth season or more at Deer Valley). The Slope Groomer operates heavy grooming and snow moving equipment to create a smooth, safe, and enjoyable skiing surface for resort guests. This role is critical to enhancing guest satisfaction, maximizing skier safety, and ensuring trails are maintained to the highest standard. Beginner to advanced positions available.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Previous grooming or heavy equipment operation experience preferred
  • Knowledge of grooming techniques and equipment functionality preferred
  • Safety conscious, dependable, and accountable with strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to work swing and graveyard shifts
  • Must provide reliable transportation capable of handling winter driving conditions
  • Must provide a working phone for communication
  • Must provide a basic tool kit (e.g., channel locks, adjustable crescent wrench, flashlight)

Responsibilities

  • Competently and conscientiously perform the required vehicle and equipment inspections and servicing, recording results accurately and completely
  • Safe operation of equipment
  • Consistently provide above average or better results using any of Deer Valley’s grooming equipment on all Deer Valley terrain
  • Successfully execute assignments effectively and efficiently without direct supervision
  • Secure work sites nightly (e.g., remove equipment keys, mark hazards).
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned work areas, vehicles, and facilities.
  • Contribute to a positive, safe, and effective workplace by working collaboratively and showing adaptability to changing mountain conditions.
  • Quickly and accurately identify problems with projects or equipment and be able to offer appropriate solutions or alternatives
  • Effectively participate in project related decision making and be supportive of the ultimate solutions
  • If highly skilled, assist in the training and development of other operators
  • Exhibit a continuous effort to increase one’s grooming effectiveness and efficiency
  • Assist mechanics or coworkers with minor repairs and equipment changes
  • Exhibit professional conduct and proper radio etiquette
  • Stay adaptable as responsibilities and resort needs evolve.
