About The Position

Snowmakers provide an outstanding experience for guests by supplementing the resort’s abundant natural snowfall with additional coverage. The role focuses on safety, efficiency, and works continuously through peak artificial snow creation times during the early winter season. Snow Makers work under the direction of the Snowmaking Supervisor and Mountain Operations Manager, and work closely with the Mountain Operations, Maintenance, and all outdoor departments.

Requirements

  • Strong work ethic, taking pride in the job and finished product.
  • Calm under pressure and patient.
  • Must be prepared to work efficiently, safely, and without direct supervision.
  • Prepared to work long, continuous shifts during peak snowmaking periods.
  • Work will include flexible schedules (weekends, holidays, OT, etc.) and be outdoors, in all weather conditions.
  • Communicate effectively in English, both written and verbally.
  • Maintain professional conduct when in uniform on or off-duty, and online.
  • Effectively provide support and assistance to coworkers.
  • Attend and actively participate in meetings, training, and company initiatives.
  • Adherence to all company policies, and procedures.
  • Must be neat, punctual, and dependable.
  • Employees must always be of sound mind, exhibit good judgment, and report to work fit for duty.
  • This physical position requires the ability to stand for long periods of time, constant trunk rotation, and frequent lifting and arranging of heavy equipment.
  • This role operates equipment and works with tools. Training signoffs are required.
  • Driving a snowmobile is required. Snow Makers must complete the Resort’s training program prior to operation.
  • Snowmakers work in a remote, alpine environment, and independent at most times during their shifts.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience and good mechanical aptitude is preferred, but not required, for the position.
  • Standard First Aid is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Carrying out the safe and efficient operation of snowmaking at the Resort, including monitoring, maintaining, and using equipment in accordance with department policies and procedures, manufacturer’s specifications, and direction from the Supervisory team.
  • Communicating effectively via radio.
  • Acquiring a comprehensive knowledge of Resort areas which may be required to carry out snowmaking.
  • Monitoring safety communication, closures, signage, lines, when snowmaking equipment is placed and operating.
  • Timely and accurate reporting of all safety hazards, incidents, and deficiencies to appropriate personnel.
  • Recording requested data (temperatures, water flow, etc.) from snowmaking operations.
  • Other duties may be requested and assigned from time to time.
