About The Position

The Department of Curriculum Studies and the Indian Teacher Education Program (ITEP) in the College of Education, and the Gwenna Moss Centre for Teaching and Learning invite applications for an Out-of-Scope Sessional Lecturer to teach community-based courses. This position involves teaching courses such as Introduction to Elementary English Language Arts and Methods in K to 9 Mathematics I & II. The courses are offered in-person on Moosomin First Nation and require a commitment to engaging with Indigenous ways of knowing and fostering respectful, reciprocal learning environments. A valid driver's license is required for off-campus courses. Appointment periods include additional days for preparation and marking time. Courses may be cancelled due to low enrollment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Master’s degree or equivalent in Education or a related discipline and/or possession of relevant teaching or professional experience.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to engaging with Indigenous ways of knowing and to fostering respectful, reciprocal learning environments.
  • Possess knowledge and understanding of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit culture as well as indigenization and the decolonization of pedagogy to uplift and support Indigenous students.
  • A valid driver’s license is required for any off campus courses.

Responsibilities

  • Teach ECUR 309.3 (E55) Introduction to Elementary English Language Arts during the Fall 2026 session.
  • Teach ECUR 311.3 (E55) Methods in K to 9 Mathematics I during the Fall 2026 session.
  • Teach ECUR 316.3 (E54) Methods in K to 9 Mathematics II during the Winter 2027 session.
  • Determine actual class times in consultation with the program, within the 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM timeframe on alternating Wednesdays/Thursdays.
  • Engage with Indigenous ways of knowing and foster respectful, reciprocal learning environments.
  • Utilize knowledge and understanding of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit culture, indigenization, and decolonization of pedagogy to support Indigenous students.
