About The Position

This position involves the advanced treatment of cognitive science topics, including language processes and language representation, production and comprehension, language acquisition, and language and theory of mind, pragmatics, reference and context. The course is COG404H1F – Seminar in Cognitive Science. The estimated course enrollment is 40 students, with no estimated teaching assistant support. The class schedule is Tuesdays from 10 am to 1 pm. The delivery method is currently in-person but may change based on public health advisories. The appointment dates are from September 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026 (Fall semester).

Requirements

• A Master’s degree in Cognitive Science or a related field (e.g., Linguistics, Psychology, Philosophy, Computer Science) is required.

Nice To Haves

• Ph.D. preferred.
• Experience teaching in a university environment preferred.
• Relevant background in Cognitive Science required.
• Previous experience in developing and delivering curriculum for university students.
• Experience in teaching research methods and/or with experiential learning activities or service learning would be an asset.

Responsibilities

• Normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content.
• Development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams.
• Calculation and submission of grades.
• Holding regular office hours.
• Supervising the TA (if applicable).
• Preparing and supervising tests and exams.
