This course is an introduction to wood and its uses in architecture. It will be a hands-on investigation into wood-working techniques across scales, from furniture, small timber construction, to mass timber construction. The mode of learning will be primarily shop-based, with elements of small class lecture and group discussion. Students will learn techniques of cutting, shaping, lamination, joining, and finishing with lumber. Students will also learn how to draw fabrication and shop drawings.
