About The Position

Western International College (WesternIC), in partnership with Western University, provides international students with pathways to undergraduate and professional master’s programs. Located on Western’s campus, WesternIC offers a supportive, student-centred learning environment designed to prepare students for success at Western University and beyond.

Western International College is seeking a dynamic and experienced Instructor to deliver the following courses as part of our pathway programming for graduate-level international students:

ALC200: Academic Literacy in Context: Business & Technical Writing
Course Description: This course equips students with the academic and professional writing skills essential for success in graduate-level studies and industry practice. With a focus on business and technical communication, students will learn to craft clear, concise, and purpose-driven documents such as memos, reports, briefings, and proposals. Emphasis is placed on the full writing process from brainstorming and outlining to researching, drafting, revising, and presenting final work. Students will develop the ability to support their ideas with data, articulate informed opinions, and tailor their writing to diverse audiences. Active participation in group discussions, peer review, and independent assignments will foster both collaborative and autonomous writing competencies

CPRL200: Collaborative Product Realization Lab
Course Description:This course offers a dynamic, hands-on environment where students begin to explore the principles and practices of product realization. Students will apply theoretical knowledge in a collaborative, cross-cultural team setting. Through the development of a functional prototype, students will refine their technical and interpersonal skills, including time management, research analysis, and professional presentation. The lab emphasizes iterative design, evidence-based decision-making, and effective communication, preparing students to confidently introduce and advocate for their product in real-world contexts.

Requirements

• PhD or thesis-master’s degree in any field with a background that includes engineering, STEM or applied sciences
• Minimum of 5 years of post-secondary teaching experience, with a focus on working with international or newcomer student populations.
• Deep understanding of intercultural communication and equity-informed teaching practices.
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills.

Nice To Haves

• PhD
• Experience in university or college pathway programming.
• Familiarity with the Canadian post-secondary system and student transition challenges.
• Relevant industry work experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging and inclusive instruction in course topics
• Facilitate student learning through in-class activities, discussions, group work, and experiential assignments.
• Support students’ transition to post-secondary education in Canada by modeling effective academic strategies and inclusive community-building.
• Integrate equity-informed, trauma-aware, and culturally responsive approaches to teaching.
• Provide timely feedback and assessment of student work.
• Collaborate with academic and student support teams to ensure alignment with program goals and learner needs.
