About The Position

The Master of Arts in Digital Media and Global Communications program invites applications for sessional instructor positions available for the Fall [September] academic term and invites applications from suitably qualified candidates. This is a hybrid role. Sessional instructors are required to teach on-site for a minimum of 2 days per week, though this will depend on their teaching schedule. The course, Digital Media Entrepreneurship, is designed for those who are, or those who want to be, actively starting a new venture involving digital media technologies. The course focuses on entrepreneurial strategy in digital media, developing business models that maintain revenue streams, build value, engage with consumers, and aim to grow by accessing global markets. Students will learn the fundamental skills needed to create or work for digital businesses, including analyzing business models, marketing, selling and strategy.

Requirements

  • A Doctorate/Ph.D. in Digital Media, Communications or a related field.
  • Teaching experience in digital media entrepreneurship, digital business models, entrepreneurship and innovation, digital marketing, brand strategy, business strategy, and new venture creation.
  • Related industry experience and expertise in Digital Marketing, Communications, Brand Marketing etc. to enhance student learning through real life scenarios and case studies.
  • Curriculum development experience for on-site, online and hybrid delivery.
  • Ability to mentor and advise students in their academic and professional endeavors.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed.
  • Demonstrates effective prioritization and decision-making in high-pressure environments.
  • Capable of handling diverse situations, multiple projects, and rapidly changing priorities.
  • Possesses strong presentation and interpersonal skills, influencing others with empathy and political acumen.
  • Maintains a professional manner with tact, diplomacy, and discretion when dealing with colleagues and the public.
  • Possesses creative problem-solving abilities and exercises sound professional judgment, especially in handling confidential/sensitive matters.
  • Displays a strong student-centric and inclusive orientation.
  • Maintains flexibility and willingness to work outside regular business hours to meet organizational needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous teaching experience at the graduate level is a significant asset.

Responsibilities

  • Attend weekly lecture, review lecture material
  • Lecture and teach students in a variety of delivery modes, creating an inclusive learning environment
  • Invigilate quizzes, tests & exams, complete grading of quizzes, tests, assignments & exams
  • Meet with or respond to students’ inquiries during office hours
  • Update material and grades on internal software
