Position Overview: The Servicing Controller is responsible for monitoring financial reports and determining ways to reduce costs for CrossCountry Mortgage (CCM), with a focus on servicing segment operations. This role remains up to date on the financial market to understand how to maximize profits and find new expansion areas. Additionally, this role assists management in making financial decisions as needed. The Servicing Controller supervises and guides the accounting team in preparing financial reports, including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or closely related field, or equivalent combination of education/experience, preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience in the financial services industry; public accounting experience, preferred.
  • Advanced research, analysis, and problem resolution skills.
  • Excellent collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Review, evaluate, and implement accounting systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end general ledger close.
  • Prepare financial statements and related reports including balance sheets, income statements, cash-flow reports, budgets, and variance analysis.
  • Provide management with timely reviews of the organization's financial status and progress.
  • Ensure all financial reports are prepared in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Oversee the secondary markets and loan servicing accounting functions.
  • Design and maintain internal controls over financial reporting to ensure the accuracy of revenue and expense related to secondary markets and loan servicing accounting functions (i.e., servicing fee revenue, cost of servicing, unrealized and realized gains and losses on hedging and trading securities, amortization and valuation of mortgage servicing rights, etc.).
  • Assist with CCM strategic planning.
  • Keep the financial state of CCM in good standing; understand the financials of a company to meet legal requirements.
  • Develop ways to improve and promote quality and alternative solutions; demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness and assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies.
  • Work with direct reports to establish performance goals and objectives for each year; monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.
  • Assist with special projects as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
