LIGHTFEATHER IO LLC•Washington, DC
•$180,000 - $200,000•Hybrid

About The Position

LightFeather is seeking a ServiceNow Platform Engineer to own a new ServiceNow environment for a federal program. The role involves building the environment from the ground up—including provisioning, configuration, security hardening, integration enablement, and readiness validation—within a secure federal enclave. The engineer will serve as platform owner, supporting module implementation, including CMDB, platform upgrades, and continuous improvement. The position is hybrid in Washington, D.C. 20036 and is full-time, with an annual salary of $180,000–$200,000 based on experience. U.S. citizenship is required due to federal contract requirements, and a Top Secret clearance is required. Candidates with an active Secret clearance are encouraged to apply; LightFeather may sponsor an upgrade to Top Secret for the right candidate. The successful candidate will stand up, configure, secure, and maintain the ServiceNow platform; establish design and administration standards; and collaborate with security, infrastructure, and program stakeholders to deliver a compliant, production-ready platform. The role uses Agile/Scrum methods and includes participation in client calls and technical discussions.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience administering, configuring, and engineering on the ServiceNow platform.
  • Demonstrated experience standing up new ServiceNow instances or leading instance-level builds and migrations.
  • Strong server-side and client-side JavaScript scripting skills, including Glide APIs, Business Rules, and Script Includes.
  • Experience installing and configuring MID Servers and building platform integrations using REST/SOAP web services.
  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) certification.
  • Familiarity with federal security and compliance frameworks, including NIST, FISMA, and STIGs.
  • Experience working on project teams that use Agile/Scrum.
  • Ability to communicate and listen effectively with business and technical stakeholders at all levels, with good self-awareness.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Top Secret clearance required; candidates with an active Secret clearance are encouraged to apply.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in federal or defense contracting environments, particularly classified, air-gapped, or otherwise isolated networks.
  • ServiceNow CAD (Certified Application Developer) or CIS (Certified Implementation Specialist) certification.
  • Hands-on experience with CMDB, ITOM, or Discovery.
  • Experience with release coordination, version control, environment management, and automated testing strategies, including ServiceNow Automated Test Framework (ATF).
  • Experience supporting Windows Server implementation, upgrades, and integrations as required by the environment.

Responsibilities

  • Stand up and configure a new ServiceNow environment within a secure federal enclave, establishing instance architecture, baseline configurations, and administration standards.
  • Install, configure, and maintain MID Servers and establish secure connectivity within the environment.
  • Configure authentication, authorization, and access management, including LDAP/Active Directory, SSO/SAML, and role-based access controls.
  • Harden the platform according to federal security and operational standards, including NIST, FISMA, and applicable DISA STIGs, and support Assessment and Authorization (ATO) activities.
  • Establish and maintain platform administration baselines, including system properties, plugin activation, instance security settings, and upgrade and patch management processes.
  • Develop and maintain integrations with enterprise systems using REST/SOAP web services and IntegrationHub, as permitted within the environment.
  • Support ongoing implementation and optimization of platform modules, including ITSM and CMDB, in collaboration with the broader team.
  • Maintain update sets, environment documentation, build procedures, and technical design records.
  • Use Agile/Scrum methodology to manage platform and development work.
  • Participate in client calls and technical discussions, coordinating with security, infrastructure, and program stakeholders to resolve dependencies and design gaps early.
