About The Position

The Service Welder I is responsible for conducting all assigned work in a safe manner, adhering to all applicable safety, environmental, and contamination control policies, procedures, and regulations. This role requires the use of proper personal protective equipment and the successful completion of required technician training. The Service Welder I must maintain a high awareness of applicable technical changes in the industry and possess a minimum set of tools for job performance. They will disassemble and assemble machine components to manufacturer’s specifications, interpret structural drawings, and perform layout and assembly functions from these drawings with no supervision. The role involves preparing parts or materials for welding and performing the appropriate welding for needed repairs as per experience or specified procedure. The Service Welder I is expected to work in a neat and orderly fashion, constantly seeking improvements in work methods, work area, and safety standards. They will assist with maintaining proper facility appearance and shop conditions by following contamination control guidelines, including housekeeping, and performing other general maintenance duties. Documentation of repairs performed on equipment and accounting for repair times will be completed utilizing appropriate software. The ability to set up and perform a job from start to finish with minimal supervision is essential. The Service Welder I will monitor job expenses versus repair estimates and ensure the supervisor is aware of any cost overruns prior to job completion. Approaching work in a positive manner and maintaining conduct supportive of the work team is crucial. Contributing to team efforts by accomplishing tasks on time while maintaining safety and quality expectations, and training/mentoring others in the department are also key responsibilities. Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 5-6 years experience
  • Able to easily and effectively comprehend written material and communicate orally and in writing with employees and customers.
  • Completed required training curriculum to be designated a Service Welder I.
  • 3G and 4G SMAW / FCAW / GMAW certifications
  • Must possess thorough knowledge of safety requirements and procedures related to oxygen/acetylene welding, cutting, and heating.
  • Must possess thorough knowledge of safety requirements and procedures related to carbon air arc metal removal.
  • 5-10 years welding and fabricating required.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient in the use of a computer, Microsoft Office products and relevant Dealer software programs.
  • 6GR Welding Position Certification.
  • 5G Welding Position Certification.
