About The Position

Bar W Petroleum & Electric is a diverse contracting and service company supporting two major industry sectors in Alberta, B.C., and Saskatchewan, NWT and Yukon, the Industrial/Commercial Electric industry, and the Downstream Petroleum industry. Bar W has built a strong foundation of people, reputation, and integrity since 1988. Bar W is owned and operated by the United Farmers of Alberta since 2007. This role involves performing both electronic and mechanical repairs. Working closely with customers and applying Bar W processes and regulations, you will work both at our facilities and on-site at customer locations. Our technicians specialize in the Retail/Commercial Gas Stations, Cardlock/Bulk Petroleum sites, Carwashes, and Commercial/Industrial Electrical Services for Maitenance and Construction in Western Canada, Yukon, and NWT.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in mechanical and petroleum troubleshooting relevant to Service Technician jobs.
  • Will be required to complete and be certified in CPCA PM1 Training.
  • Ability to operate software applications including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with computerized machinery and hand tools.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and skill enhancement.
  • Ability to maintain and expand technical knowledge through training.
  • Successful candidates must pass a drug and alcohol screening (including cannabis) and a criminal background check (if applicable) as condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in downstream maintenance, electrical work, calibration, car washes, and construction.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct electronic and mechanical repairs, both on-site and in-house as part of the Service Technician job description.
  • Perform installation, repairs, and preventative maintenance on fuel dispensing equipment, focusing on petrol pump service technician tasks.
  • Service car wash operating equipment at various locations.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships and handle service calls effectively.
  • Contribute ideas for operational and technical improvements.
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Ensure safe practices are being followed in line with Health and Safety guidelines.
