About The Position

Bar W Petroleum & Electric is a diverse contracting and service company supporting two major industry sectors in Alberta, B.C., Saskatchewan, NWT and Yukon, the Industrial/Commercial Electrical Industry, and the Downstream Petroleum Industry. Bar W has built a strong foundation of people, reputation, and integrity since 1988. Bar W is owned and operated by the United Farmers of Alberta since 2007. This position entails the evaluation and/or certification of meters at retail service stations, cardlocks, bulk plants, fuel trucks and aviation metering equipment on behalf of Measurement Canada but not limited to. The position will also include general repairs of petroleum related equipment for the service area of Northern Alberta and B.C., N.W.T. and Yukon. Maintain customer relationships by managing allocated calls to improve service and decrease costs. This includes planning for adequate tools and equipment necessary for efficient work. Contributing to new ideas for operational and technical improvements to existing equipment and technology. Accountable for completing all required documentation correctly and in a timely manner. Ensure safe practices are being followed in accordance with Health and Safety policies and practices.

Requirements

  • High school diploma.
  • Ability to accurately operate software programs, formulas, data entry and file transfers.
  • Demonstrated knowledge about computerized machinery, as well as be efficient with hand tools.
  • Proven strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Valid Class 5 license (non GDL).
  • Willingness and interest to pursue continuing education opportunities to enhance performance.
  • Ability to maintain a strong technical knowledge of assigned equipment through on the job training and training programs.
  • Must be willing to complete and be certified in CPCA PM1 Training.
  • Must pass a drug and alcohol screening test (includes cannabis) and criminal background check (if applicable) as a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Mechanical and petroleum troubleshooting or related industry experience (Would be an asset, willing to train the right candidate).
  • Clean Drivers Abstract is required (Experience pulling trailers would be an asset).
