About The Position

MSS Solutions, LLC is hiring an experienced Service Technician - HVAC III to support its HVAC service operations. The technician assists senior HVAC technicians and performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and upkeep of light commercial and more complex HVAC equipment. The role includes documenting equipment conditions and service work, communicating with colleagues and customers, completing assigned work accurately and with minimal callbacks, and maintaining company tools and vehicles. The position involves substantial physical activity and work in varied environmental and potentially hazardous conditions.

Requirements

Universal EPA certification.
Ability to understand mechanical drawings and equipment specifications.
Ability to troubleshoot complex high- and low-voltage electrical systems.
Expert ability to read wiring schematics.
Thorough knowledge of equipment including large unitary packaged equipment over 25 tons, SWUD units, VRF systems, basic air-cooled chillers, semi-hermetic compressors, dehumidification and specialty equipment, air handlers, simple boilers, cooling towers, water pumps, valves, actuators, and VFDs.
Proficiency in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining the listed equipment and components.
Understanding of equipment sequences of operation and control strategies.
Thorough understanding of airflow, duct design, and control strategies for variable air volume systems.
Understanding of DDC control components and pneumatic systems.
Demonstrated experience with the basic refrigerant cycle, heating components, and air distribution systems.
Ability to explain complex technical issues to customers in layman's terms.
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Must successfully pass a background check and drug test.
Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including frequent lifting up to 50 pounds and constant lifting up to 25 pounds, as well as standing, walking, reaching, gripping, and climbing.

Responsibilities

Assist senior HVAC technicians.
Perform preventive maintenance contracts and scheduled maintenance, including replacing belts and filters and identifying equipment anomalies.
Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain light commercial equipment and other HVAC equipment within the role's scope.
Log HVAC equipment information, including refrigerant and electrical circuits and equipment condition.
Perform brazing, leak checks, and evacuation processes.
Communicate with Team Leads, coordination staff, sales staff, supervisors, dispatchers, and customers.
Complete equipment log sheets for Project Managers and upload them to the database.
Complete assigned tasks with minimal callbacks and respond to supervisors and dispatchers.
Complete paperwork accurately and on time.
Follow basic safe work practices.
Take care of and maintain company tools and the company vehicle.
Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by the company.
