About The Position

MSS Solutions, LLC is hiring an experienced Service Technician – HVAC III to assist senior HVAC technicians and support commercial HVAC service work. The role performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance on light commercial and complex HVAC equipment. The technician documents equipment condition and service activities, communicates with internal teams and customers, completes assigned work with minimal call-backs, and follows safe work practices. The position also involves caring for company tools and a company vehicle and completing paperwork accurately and on time.

Requirements

Universal EPA certification.
At least 15 years of experience.
Ability to understand mechanical drawings and equipment specifications.
Ability to troubleshoot complex high- and low-voltage electrical systems.
Expert ability to read wiring schematics.
Thorough understanding of equipment including large unitary packaged equipment over 25 tons, SWUD units, VRF, basic air-cooled chillers, semi-hermetic compressors, dehumidification equipment, complex specialty equipment, air handlers, simple boilers, cooling towers, water pumps, valves, actuators, and VFDs.
Proficient in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining the listed equipment and its components.
Complete understanding of sequence of operation and control strategies for the listed equipment.
Thorough understanding of airflow for variable air volume systems, including duct design and control strategy.
Understanding of DDC control components and pneumatic systems.
Demonstrated experience understanding the basic refrigerant cycle, heating components, and air distribution systems.
Ability to communicate with customers and explain complex technical issues in layman's terms.
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Must successfully pass a background check and drug test.

Responsibilities

Assist Senior HVAC technicians.
Perform preventative maintenance contracts.
Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain light commercial equipment.
Perform scheduled maintenance, including replacing belts and filters, and identify anomalies in HVAC equipment.
Log HVAC equipment information, including refrigerant circuits, electrical circuits, and equipment condition.
Perform brazing, leak checks, and evacuation processes.
Communicate with the Team Lead, Coordination Staff, Sales Staff, and customers.
Complete equipment log sheets for Project Managers and upload them into the database.
Complete assigned tasks with minimal call-backs.
Respond to supervisors and dispatchers.
Complete paperwork accurately and on time.
Abide by basic safe work practices.
Take care of and maintain company tools and the company vehicle.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the company.
