About The Position

SPATCO is seeking an experienced Petroleum Service Technician to service petroleum dispensing and fueling equipment. The role includes complete training through vendor training and certification, along with monitored field experience. Technicians are expected to learn and apply technical procedures, develop proficiency in the field, and represent SPATCO professionally to customers. The position includes a rotating on-call schedule and requires working outdoors in all types of weather, sometimes under time constraints and in stooped or bent-over positions for extended periods. Technicians complete service-call paperwork on site, follow company procedures, coordinate with vendors on warranty work, and communicate with dispatchers, service managers, warehouse staff, and customers. Duties include troubleshooting and repairing a range of petroleum dispensing, fueling, monitoring, metering, and point-of-sale equipment. The job also involves operating and maintaining a company service van, managing truck inventory, and following safe work and driving practices. A technical trainer supports equipment troubleshooting and repair training. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 1 year of IT/technical support or mechanic background is preferred.
At least 1 year of strong mechanical or technical experience.
Clean driving record, with no more than one violation.
Ability to lift 75–100 pounds when necessary.
Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather.
Ability to work efficiently under time constraints and work well with others.
Ability to communicate professionally and courteously with customers.
Ability to work bent over or stooped for long periods while servicing dispenser hydraulics and submerged pump units.
Ability to use a Volt-Ohm Meter, Amp-Clamp, and Windows-based laptop computer with communication software.
Ability to learn, retain, and apply technical training, procedures, and constructive feedback.
Ability to perform the essential functions satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

Complete all paperwork associated with service calls on site, including warranty-related documentation, and obtain vendor close-out numbers when applicable.
Call the dispatcher after each service call is complete.
Take daily work directions from the Service Manager or Service Dispatcher.
Follow SP&T service-call procedures and other company procedures.
Remain available for work as part of a rotating on-call schedule.
Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on petroleum product leaks in the hydraulic pumping areas of pumps and dispensers.
Perform meter calibration certification.
Troubleshoot and repair fleet fueling systems, mechanical flow meters, electronic tank monitors, electronic POS terminals, electrical wiring, and gasoline dispensing units.
Interpret and follow wiring diagrams.
Coordinate with warehouse personnel to verify inventory, replenish truck stock, remove slow-moving parts, and obtain parts needed for service calls.
Communicate professionally and courteously with customers.
Operate the company service van safely and efficiently, maintain a respectable driving record, and keep the vehicle clean and regularly maintained for company business only.
Maintain accurate truck inventory and review truck authorization levels monthly.
Apply constructive suggestions to improve work habits, troubleshooting techniques, efficiency, and technical ability.
