Service Maintenance Technician (Mechanic) - Rental

About The Position

The Service Maintenance Technician performs incoming and outgoing equipment inspections, basic mechanical work, and preventive maintenance repairs under close supervision of the service manager and experienced technicians. The company supplies the tools needed for the position and provides opportunities for training and growth within rentals. The technician inspects rental equipment for condition, safety, and proper operation; documents fuel and Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) needed to refill tanks; and performs regular service and preventive maintenance to keep equipment dependable and safe. The role also includes maintaining customer relationships, updating product knowledge, keeping work areas and tools clean and safe, cleaning equipment, and contributing to team duties.

Requirements

At least one year of heavy equipment or diesel experience.
May be currently enrolled in a heavy equipment or diesel program.
Demonstrated customer service skills.
Experience using electronic devices such as laptops, tablets, smartphones, and cell phone applications.
Valid California Class C driver's license and a clean driving record.
Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.

Nice To Haves

Certification or a degree from an accredited trade program is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Inspect incoming off-rental and outgoing on-rental equipment for visual condition, safety, and proper operation.
Complete requested reports, including recording the amounts of fuel and Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) needed to refill tanks.
Perform regular service and preventive maintenance on equipment, including ensuring proper operation and removing parts and attachments.
Develop and maintain positive customer relationships to improve customer satisfaction.
Continually update product knowledge to work on new equipment models.
Maintain a safe and clean work environment in compliance with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Maintain shop tools, equipment, and work areas.
Clean equipment using a wash-rack steam cleaner and high-pressure washer.
Contribute to team efforts by completing needed duties.
Perform other duties as assigned.
