About The Position

Terrain Cafe in Wayland is seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Service Assistant to support a positive customer experience. The role helps maintain a clean, organized dining room, provides timely table service, delivers menu items accurately, and collaborates with other service team members. It is an entry-level, guest-facing role suited to someone who enjoys a fast-paced environment and wants to learn and grow in hospitality.

The Service Assistant supports guests and front-of-house staff, maintains dining and service areas, and contributes to opening and closing routines. Flexible availability is preferred and may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and select holidays.

Requirements

Responsibilities

• Deliver food and beverages accurately, with an understanding of menu details.
• Assist with guest needs and relay questions or concerns to the appropriate team member.
• Clear and reset tables within three minutes of guest departure.
• Assist with packaging takeout orders.
• Monitor the dining room and proactively assist where needed.
• Keep kitchen expo areas, service stations, and the dining room clean and organized.
• Polish and restock silverware, glassware, and plateware throughout the shift.
• Monitor and remove trash and recycling regularly.
• Ensure walkways remain safe and clear for guests and staff.
• Memorize table and seat numbers to support efficient service.
• Learn menu details, ingredients, and allergen protocols.
• Communicate guest concerns clearly to team leads.
• Assist front-of-house staff during high-volume periods.
• Help with opening and closing duties, including setting and resetting the dining room.
