About The Position

This is a full-time, seasonal position at Albreda Lodge, part of Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing. The primary focus is on breakfast and lunch service, but the role also involves assisting in all lodge departments as directed to ensure smooth operations and high-quality service for guests. The position requires a strong understanding of hospitality principles, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. The role also includes housekeeping, boutique sales, front desk, and administrative duties as needed, with training provided.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of serving experience.
  • Serving It Right Certification.
  • Foodsafe Certification.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
  • Knowledge of workplace hazardous materials and WHMIS Certification (training provided).
  • Experience in all aspects of customer service and people management.
  • Strong working knowledge of hospitality industry principles, methods, practices, and techniques.
  • Attention to detail and personal integrity.
  • Some knowledge of computer applications and use (Microsoft Word & Excel, Internet).
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
  • Ability to work long days.
  • Ability to work under time constraints.
  • Ability to carry light to moderate loads, often hot.
  • Ability to transport up to 50 pounds on occasion and up to 35 pounds regularly.
  • Manual dexterity is required to use knives and kitchen appliances.
  • Flexibility and availability for work when necessary (e.g., down days, spring hours).

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of a second language (preferably German, French or Spanish): spoken & written.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Lodge Management in executing, monitoring, and evaluating daily Front of House (FOH) operations, specifically in the Dining Room, Nook, and Great Room areas.
  • Prepare and edit beverage menus (coffees, wine, bar) in collaboration with the service lead and team, reflecting stock, guest history, and requests.
  • Track guest requests and communicate specific food and beverage needs to the Service Lead.
  • Define, tailor, execute, and exceed current industry service standards with the Service Lead and team.
  • Take detailed food and beverage orders from customers and ensure they are given to the appropriate person for execution.
  • Maintain familiarity with the composition of all menu items.
  • Serve food and beverages according to MWHS standards in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Clean designated areas according to procedures, routines, and hygiene requirements.
  • Change table linen as required, ensuring dirty or damaged linen is counted and exchanged for clean items.
  • Clean and refill cruet and condiment sets.
  • Set tables to laid-down standards, ensuring all items are clean, undamaged, and in good repair.
  • Ensure sideboards at stations are adequately stocked with replacement cutlery, linen, or other established needs.
  • Clean tables promptly after guests have finished, balancing speed with guest comfort.
  • Ensure customers are correctly charged for liquor sales.
  • Practice good customer relations, assisting guests in any way that does not adversely affect other customers.
  • Attend to customer complaints immediately and satisfactorily.
  • Record and track guest preferences and dislikes for guest history.
  • Maintain the highest standard of personal hygiene and dress, adhering to the dress code for fine dining expectations.
  • Assist in additional Lodge duties as required, including light housekeeping, and limited Front Desk and Boutique exposure.
  • Prepare and set tables with appropriate presentation, including intricate dinner table set-ups, après station set-up, breakfast display, and continental buffet.
  • Clear tables, take a la carte orders, serve food, and perform all cleanup duties.
  • Perform cleaning before and after service.
  • Aid in garbage removal from the kitchen and assist with the recycling program.
  • Assist the kitchen in dry food rotation, bar storage, shared dry storage, and wine room organization.
  • Perform daily deep cleaning of the Bar, dining room, nook, great room, boutique, and deck service areas.
  • Understand and have knowledge of products, including the menu, wine, coffees, beverages, and MWHS packages.
  • Serve and clear tables in a kind and courteous fashion.
  • Assist with dishwashing.
  • Polish glassware, plateware, and cutlery.
  • Perform moderately physical housekeeping duties, including carrying light to heavy loads, washing and folding linens, cleaning bathrooms, and using/maintaining light cleaning equipment.
  • Handle occasional environmental exposures to cold, heat, and water.
  • Transport up to 50 pounds on occasion and up to 35 pounds regularly.
  • Use manual dexterity for knives and kitchen appliances.
  • Work under time constraints and carry light to moderate loads, often hot.
  • Respect guest’s space and property during housekeeping duties.
  • Perform retail sales in the Boutique, maintain gift basket levels, and ensure attractive product display.
  • Keep the stock room clean, in order, folded, and organized.
  • Provide prompt acknowledgment, friendly welcome, and efficient check-in of guests at the Front Desk.
  • Ensure Waivers (liability release forms) are completed properly and witnessed.
  • Communicate guest-related housekeeping and maintenance problems to the appropriate areas.
  • Keep the Front Desk and office neat, clean, and organized.
  • Act as an information source for guests regarding facilities, hours, operational procedures, and products.
  • Be aware of special functions within the lodge and larger resort.
  • Be proactive in selling the products and services offered.
  • Ensure guest confidentiality.
  • Evaluate guest needs and exceed guest expectations.
  • Address clients by name and introduce yourself.
  • Strive for effective communication and teamwork between all departments; attend mandatory weekly lodge meetings and daily shift chats.
  • Be aware of safety in all areas, including fire prevention, power outage procedures, and general operational safety practices; report unsafe conditions to management.
  • Attend the Saturday evening Meet and Greet the Guests.
  • Contribute to planning and execution of changes in the overall routine of service.
  • Strive to achieve above average scores in the MWHS customer service comment card ranking.
  • Demonstrate general wine knowledge, food knowledge, and service knowledge.
  • Be able to pair wine or spirits with the menu.
  • Maintain an immaculate bar, dining room, service station, and work environment.
  • Have micro-brewery knowledge and knowledge of local craft beer.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information gained while working with the company.
