About The Position

The Server at Miss J's Cafe provides customer service and supports efficient dining operations. The role includes greeting customers, answering questions and helping with menu choices, processing orders and payments, addressing customer concerns, and contributing to a welcoming atmosphere. The Server also coordinates order details with kitchen staff, helps deliver and package orders, maintains clean and stocked service areas, supports coworkers during busy periods, and informs customers about promotions and menu items.

Requirements

Previous experience in a customer service role, preferably in a restaurant or diner.
Basic math skills and ability to handle cash transactions.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Friendly, approachable demeanor with a focus on customer satisfaction.
Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
Reliable and punctual; flexibility to work weekends and evenings.
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
Positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team.
Attention to detail and ability to maintain a clean, organized workspace.

Responsibilities

Greet customers and provide a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.
Answer customer inquiries and assist with menu choices and recommendations.
Process customer orders and payments accurately and efficiently.
Handle customer complaints or concerns professionally and courteously.
Operate the cash register and process cash, credit, and debit card transactions; make change and provide receipts as needed.
Keep the register area tidy and organized, track the cash drawer, and ensure it is balanced at the start and end of each shift.
Enter orders accurately into the system and communicate special requests or modifications to kitchen staff.
Ensure orders are processed and delivered in a timely manner, and package takeout orders with all items included.
Maintain cleanliness in the register and dining areas, including wiping counters, clearing tables, and assisting with minor cleaning tasks.
Stock napkins, condiments, utensils, and other supplies in register and dining areas.
Collaborate with servers, kitchen staff, and management to support smooth operations.
Assist team members during peak times, including refilling drinks and clearing tables.
Communicate with staff to ensure customer needs are met.
Inform customers about promotions, specials, and new menu items; upsell desserts, drinks, sides, or other items when appropriate.
Keep promotional materials current and visible to customers.
