About The Position

The Server welcomes residents and helps create a friendly, engaging dining-room environment where residents can connect. The role supports meal service by preparing tables and food items, maintaining a clean dining area, and communicating observations about residents’ eating habits or attendance to supervisors and Wellness. The position is part-time at Rock Creek in Ankeny, Iowa, with shifts on Monday and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Pay is $16–$20.50 per hour.

Requirements

• Be at least 16 years of age.
• Read, write, understand, and communicate in English at a minimum of 8th-grade proficiency.
• Have a positive, energetic attitude and enjoy working with residents.
• Be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and stoop throughout the day.
• Frequently lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Be criminally cleared.

Responsibilities

• Greet residents, make them feel welcome, and remain present in the dining room.
• Mingle with and entertain residents and foster an environment where they can connect.
• Prepare tables for service, prepare salads for upcoming meals, and roll silverware.
• Bus tables and sweep floors to maintain a tidy dining area.
• Communicate with supervisors and Wellness when poor dietary habits, unusual appetite changes, or meal absences are observed.
• Assist residents with sitting, standing, and walking, and assist persons after a fall.
