About The Position

The Server / Bartender serves guests and members and attends to their dining needs. The role provides excellent customer service through menu and product knowledge, accurate orders, timely and friendly service, and anticipating and accommodating guest requests. Bartenders provide a high-quality beverage and food service experience while following alcohol-serving safety procedures and showing genuine interest in guests’ needs. Servers ensure food meets customer expectations and company standards, serve food and beverages efficiently, share menu and daily-special information, take orders and payments, and help maintain a pleasant dining experience. Bartenders prepare and maintain the bar, greet guests, recommend and serve food and beverages, keep the work area clean, and close and store equipment and supplies appropriately. Other duties may be assigned. The position is based at the Hilton Garden Inn Panama City Beach Airport in Panama City, Florida. Work takes place in a fast-paced, high-volume bar and may be indoors and/or outdoors. Conditions may include noise, seasonal heat or cold, slippery surfaces, stairs, and natural environmental factors. Shifts may last 11 or more hours.

Requirements

Sufficient education and literacy to identify and read product labels and communicate with guests about job-related needs.
Ability to read, write, speak, and communicate in basic English is preferred.
Must be at least 18 years old to serve alcohol.
Must have in-person customer service experience.
Must be CPR certified.
Must have Food Handling Certification.
Must have Alcohol Awareness Certification.
Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and remain on feet for the entire shift.
Ability to stand for extended periods and walk, bend, kneel, and stoop.
Ability to prepare beverages continuously for long periods and safely deliver food and drinks on different surfaces.
Detail-oriented and thorough, with strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
Well-organized, with the ability to take and place food and beverage orders accurately.
Knowledge of special diets to help ensure guest safety when ordering food.
Basic knowledge of spirits, beer, wine, and beverages.
Ability to consistently perform work to high standards, respect guest privacy, and interact pleasantly with guests.
Extensive knowledge of drink preparation or service and ability to memorize food and beverage menus.
Ability to remain calm with unruly or argumentative patrons.
Ability to learn the cash-register software used by the bar or restaurant and complete orders quickly and accurately.

Nice To Haves

One year of bartending experience in a high-volume facility is preferred.
Previous experience as a server is preferred.

Responsibilities

Ensure food is prepared correctly, meets customer satisfaction and company standards, and return incorrect or improperly cooked orders to the kitchen.
Serve food and beverages in a friendly, timely, and efficient manner according to restaurant standards.
Help guests have a pleasant dining experience by knowing menu ingredients, flavors, and recommendations; communicate daily specials and menu changes.
Take food and beverage orders, collect plates, and clear tables as guests finish their meals.
Collect revenue, issue receipts, and accept payments.
Complete basic cleaning tasks and pre-shift and post-shift setup or teardown duties as directed.
Set up the bar, collect and count the bank, and keep the bar clean, sanitized, and stocked.
Fill and maintain ice wells; cut fruit and prepare purees.
Greet guests, upsell food and beverages, and anticipate their needs.
Maintain cleanliness during the shift, including cleaning bottles, wells, and surfaces; clean and maintain beer taps and frozen drink machines.
Close and break down the bar; clean workspaces and equipment, take trash to the dumpster as needed, and brush and squeegee floors.
Properly store produce for the next day.
Perform other duties as assigned.
