Seasonal Server Assistant Larchmont Yacht Club Larchmont, New York Seasonal Position | April 1 through October 31 Full-Time or Part-Time | In-Person Compensation: From $19.50 per hour | Non-Tipped Availability Required: Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and major holiday weekends based on business needs. About Larchmont Yacht Club Larchmont Yacht Club has been a cornerstone of waterfront life on Long Island Sound since 1880. Located just 16 miles from New York City on a scenic waterfront campus, the Club is known for its sailing tradition, vibrant social calendar, and commitment to exceptional hospitality. Dining is an important part of the member experience. Throughout the spring and summer seasons, members enjoy meals across multiple venues including elegant dining rooms, outdoor terraces, waterfront patios, and seasonal dining spaces that overlook the harbor. From relaxed family dinners and casual outdoor lunches to regattas, celebrations, and private events, the culinary and service teams work together to create memorable experiences for members and their guests. The Server Assistant team plays an important role in maintaining the high level of service that members expect while supporting the pace and energy of a busy seasonal dining program. Position Summary The Seasonal Server Assistant supports the dining room team by helping maintain efficient service, preparing dining areas, and assisting servers throughout the guest experience. This role focuses on table maintenance, food delivery support, and ensuring that service areas remain organized during busy meal periods. This position is well suited for college students, teachers on summer break, and individuals interested in hospitality who want to gain experience in a professional dining environment. Server Assistants learn the fundamentals of private club service while working alongside experienced servers and managers. Successful candidates bring a strong work ethic, a team-oriented mindset, and a positive attitude that contributes to a welcoming dining experience for members and guests.

Requirements

  • Previous hospitality or food service experience preferred
  • Friendly and professional communication style
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced service setting
  • Must be able to follow service standards and instructions carefully
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during service
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to bend, reach, and move comfortably in a busy dining environment
  • Comfortable working in both indoor dining areas and outdoor waterfront spaces
  • Flexible availability based on the Club’s dining schedule and seasonal events.

Responsibilities

  • Assist servers with the preparation and setup of dining rooms, service stations, and pantry areas
  • Maintain water service, bread service, and glassware preparation according to service standards
  • Deliver food to tables and assist with table service when needed
  • Clear and reset tables efficiently to maintain smooth service flow
  • Ensure tables are cleared, cleaned, and reset promptly between courses and after guests depart
  • Support proper timing and coordination of service with servers and kitchen staff
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of service stations throughout the shift
  • Assist with opening, mid-shift, and closing duties as assigned
  • Greet members politely and maintain a welcoming presence in the dining room
  • Answer basic menu questions and communicate confidently with guests when delivering dishes
  • Support servers in ensuring that members have an enjoyable and well-paced dining experience
  • Participate in pre-shift meetings and daily service briefings
  • Communicate clearly with servers, kitchen staff, and managers to support smooth operations
  • Contribute to a positive team environment and assist coworkers when needed
