About The Position

Seasonal Server Assistant for COAST Cafe from May 23, 2026 to September/October 2026. This role requires a friendly and hospitable demeanor, a professional appearance, and adherence to company grooming standards. The Server Assistant is responsible for various tasks before, during, and after service to ensure a smooth and pleasant dining experience for guests.

  • Ability to check out with a manager before leaving the shift.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare back office, ice, coffee, tea, and dirty linen basket.
  • Set up the patio, including sugar caddies, S&P grinders, and checking cushion cleanliness.
  • Check chairs and tables for cleanliness.
  • Prepare roll-ups and set up dinner candles (PM).
  • Arrange table layout.
  • Restock requisition deliveries.
  • Prepare side stations with plates, water, coffee cups, tea, lemonade, and juices.
  • Polish silverware, utensils, glassware, and china.
  • Participate in pre-shift meetings.
  • Greet newly arrived guests.
  • Set additional table settings if necessary.
  • Assist with water and soft drinks service.
  • Perform bread stick service.
  • Explain specials/promotions of the day.
  • Expedite dishes in a timely and orderly manner.
  • Explain dishes to guests.
  • Place dishes correctly in front of guests with the 'best bite forward'.
  • Know the appropriate silverware to mark the table.
  • Assist with coffee/tea service and refills.
  • Clear tables appropriately, using correct racks for glasses and stacking plates.
  • Reset tables.
  • Replenish glasses, silver, and roll-ups as necessary.
  • Maintain restaurant cleanliness and neatness during service, including cleaning work/side stations.
  • Replenish glasses, silver, and china during closing.
  • Set tables and stations for the next meal period.
  • Clean up the expediting station.
  • Refill refrigerators with water and juices.
  • Clean the back service area, including the coffee machine and ice tea ice bin.
  • Bring linen to the dirty bin.
  • Check out with a manager before leaving the shift.
