People Architects is excited to recruit an SEO Director for an on-site role in Cleveland, Ohio for one of our high-growth agency clients. This isn't just a leadership role behind a monitor; it’s a chance to be the strategic translator between technical complexity and client success. We are looking for an SEO Director who excels at the art of storytelling. A leader who can look at a mountain of data and clearly explain the "big picture" story to a client. You don't need to be the one performing every technical task, but you must be a master of accountability and coaching, ensuring your team stays process-driven and action-oriented. As a visionary who sees exactly where the search industry is heading, you’ll have a seat at the table to influence high-level strategy and drive innovation. Requirements

  • 8+ years of SEO experience, with a track record of leading successful organic search initiatives.
  • Exceptional storytelling and communication skills, with the ability to explain the "why" behind the data to executive-level stakeholders.
  • A visionary mindset with the ability to anticipate industry shifts and adapt agency strategies to the evolving search landscape.
  • Prior experience managing and mentoring SEO teams in a fast-paced agency environment.
  • Advanced experience implementing SEO strategies using AI software and technologies.
  • High proficiency with industry tools (Google Search Console, SEMrush, Moz, Screaming Frog).
  • Strong data analysis skills, specifically with Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager.
  • Highly accountable, proactive, and solution-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the agency’s SEO framework and accountability standards, ensuring teams meet deliverables and KPIs through consistent process execution.
  • Act as the primary SEO strategist for high-value clients, translating complex performance data into clear, narrative-driven business insights.
  • Lead the development of high-level SEO strategies that align with broader client business goals.
  • Oversee team activity and performance, providing coaching and troubleshooting for underperforming accounts without needing to manage the daily technical delivery.
  • Drive innovative tactics, including optimizing for AI and the evolving future of search behavior.
  • Collaborate closely with global leads to maintain team alignment and operational efficiency.
  • Review all team deliverables to ensure they meet agency standards for quality, accuracy, and impact.
  • Support new business development by crafting compelling SEO strategies and contributing to pitches.
  • Lead thought leadership initiatives, including the development of case studies and industry insights.
