About The Position

Responsible for administrative functions of the Sentence Management process. This includes the auditing of offender sentences, eligibility and discharge dates, ensuring the lawful release of offenders and ensuring that all offender records are accurately and completely maintained.

Requirements

  • Some knowledge of the principles and practices of sentence calculations; state, local and agency laws, ordinances and policies.

  • Required to speak and hear clearly.
  • Often required to sit and use hands and fingers to handle or feel.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb stairs or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Requires close vision.
  • Successfully completes all assignments to as directed specifications, within specified timeframe and budget as directed and in accordance with agency policies and regulations.
  • Arrives on time for work, limits breaks and lunches to allotted time, and leaves on time.
  • Uses leave in accordance with General Orders; communicates and cooperates with management in providing proper notice of leave; patterns and amounts of leave usage (not including legitimate, properly scheduled and approved leave and protected leave).
  • Volume of work accomplished is consistent with position requirements and produced within quality tolerance standards.

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Valid Florida driver license required.

Responsibilities

  • Audits sentence calculations for offenders, including offenders auditing discharge dates by reviewing warrants, capias and court orders for correct information.
  • Prepares documents, including release instructions, for the discharge of offenders.
  • Initiates the lawful release of offenders, including checking of any outstanding matters affecting release.
  • Ensures accuracy and completeness of offender details in the local Jail Management System (JMS), coordinates and monitors sentence management, retrieves and/or enters dates for discharge, and monitors accuracy and completeness of warrants entries.
  • Prepares, maintains, and updates offender management files.
  • Audits documentation and correspondence in respect to offender movement within the corrections facility.
  • Liaises with other staff and management and provides advice on general administration aspects of the sentence management operations.
  • Provides support to other staff on administrative issues and assists with the preparation of memorandums, reports, and correspondence.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
