Senior Vice President of Field Operations

White's Site DevelopmentOrlando, FL
Onsite

About The Position

Whites Site Development is a Central Florida-based civil site development company operating an integrated platform of general contracting and civil engineering services. We deliver complex multifamily and commercial ground-up site work across Central Florida — earthwork, underground utilities, base, and civil infrastructure — managing self-perform field crews and a pre-qualified subcontractor bench under one roof. We are growing to $25M and then to $50M. The SVP of Site Work is the person who makes that execution possible. This is the most senior field leadership position at Whites Site Development. The SVP of Site Work owns all field operations — every active job, every crew, every superintendent, every subcontractor in the field — and is accountable for the delivery performance of the entire company. This is not a project manager role. This is not a single-job superintendent. This is the executive who oversees all jobs running simultaneously, sets the operational standard across the organization, and ensures that what was promised to every client is what gets built — on time, on budget, and at the quality level WSD's reputation demands. You will report directly to the Executive Director and VP. You will own the field side of the business the way a COO owns a company. If something is wrong in the field, it is your problem first.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of progressive field leadership experience in civil site development, heavy civil, or underground utility construction in Florida
  • Demonstrated track record managing multiple simultaneous jobs — not sequentially, concurrently — with overlapping crew deployments, active material schedules, and live client relationships
  • Deep technical knowledge of Florida civil site work: grading and earthwork, underground utility installation (storm, sewer, water), dewatering, base installation, and SWPPP compliance
  • Proven experience leading and developing field superintendents — you have built teams, not just managed them
  • Thorough understanding of Florida site conditions: soil types, muck, dewatering needs, wet season logistics, and the scheduling discipline required to deliver in a state that fights you
  • Familiarity with Florida construction permitting, inspection workflows, and regulatory compliance in the field
  • Experience managing subcontractors in the field — scope compliance, daily performance, and escalation when subs are not meeting the standard
  • Equipment operations knowledge — you understand what a GPS dozer does, how a pipe crew is composed, and what a day's production looks like for each crew type WSD runs
  • Strong communicator — you can debrief a superintendent, brief an owner, and give the VP a clear status update in the same morning
  • Compensation expectation consistent with a senior executive field operations role in a high-growth Florida construction company

Responsibilities

  • Full responsibility for field operations across all active WSD projects simultaneously — typically 8–18 concurrent jobs at $25M–$50M volume
  • Direct oversight of all WSD superintendents — hire, mentor, evaluate, and hold them accountable for job delivery across their assigned portfolios
  • Daily situational awareness of all active sites — schedule status, crew production, material deliveries, sub performance, and risk items — with the ability to intervene fast when a project is drifting
  • Subcontractor performance management in the field — clearing, concrete, asphalt, and specialty subs all answer to the same standard you set
  • Equipment and crew deployment — scheduling crew mobilization and demobilization across all active jobs in coordination with the VP and project managers
  • Quality control and safety standard enforcement across all WSD field operations — no job is exempt from the standard
  • Direct collaboration with estimating on bid reviews — your field knowledge validates the productivity assumptions and crew cost inputs before a number goes out
  • Client-facing field presence when required — owners and GCs dealing with schedule or scope issues need to see WSD's most senior field leader, not a coordinator
  • Identification and escalation of field risks before they become schedule impacts or cost overruns — you see it first and you say it first
  • Building and refining WSD's operational playbook — crew standards, production benchmarks, daily reporting protocols, and field compliance requirements

Benefits

  • Executive compensation package commensurate with responsibility — base, performance incentive, and company vehicle
  • Direct reporting relationship to the Executive Director — you are in the room where strategy gets made
  • Full authority over field operations — not advisory, not coordinative; actual authority to direct crews, manage subs, and hold the line on quality and schedule
  • A growing company with serious infrastructure: estimating depth, an engineering entity, a pre-qualified sub bench, and an inventory control system — the tools to actually do the job right
  • Central Florida's most dynamic civil work — multifamily, commercial, mixed-use — at a scale that makes this one of the most challenging and rewarding field operations roles in the state
