About The Position

A growing group of towing companies serving commercial and municipal customers across the Midwest is looking for its next operations leader. Reporting to the President/CEO and partnering with the Co-Presidents, Board, and Group Controller, you'll own the processes, KPIs, and management routines that get multiple locations running as one consistent operation. This is a hands-on leadership seat with real autonomy and room to grow. It's a strong fit for a senior operator or former management consultant who enjoys moving between strategy and daily execution, and who wants to build something rather than maintain it.

Requirements

  • 5–10 years in operations, management consulting, towing, transportation, logistics, or a similar field
  • A track record of leading people and improving performance through goals, measurement, and accountability
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to turn operational and financial data into action
  • Experience designing processes and operating systems that stick
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience building management reports and dashboards
  • Clear communication with executives, managers, and frontline staff, plus the judgment and follow-through to work independently
  • Energy for a fast-moving, decentralized, entrepreneurial environment
  • Based in Chicagoland and willing to travel to locations in Illinois

Nice To Haves

  • Towing, transportation, logistics, or other multi-location service business experience
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in business, engineering, operations, finance, or a related field

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily operations across multiple towing businesses and locations, working alongside location managers, dispatch, drivers, and admin staff to solve problems quickly
  • Manage and develop several direct reports, setting clear expectations, coaching managers, and running regular performance reviews and operating meetings
  • Assess workflows and roll out practical, scalable SOPs, management processes, and internal controls across dispatching, scheduling, billing, and communication
  • Build reporting and dashboards on call volume, revenue per call, driver productivity, labor utilization, response times, fleet availability, customer performance, and profitability, then dig into root causes and drive corrective action
  • Partner with the President, Board, and Group Controller on operating plans, budgets, and targets; sharpen pricing, labor efficiency, and profitability; and help integrate new acquisitions
  • Keep every location properly staffed, and help recruit, onboard, and develop the team

Benefits

  • Base salary $110,000–$165,000
  • Discretionary bonus, currently estimated at $10,000–$20,000
