About The Position
As a Senior UX Designer at Avalara, you will shape the user experience across the Buy Online Small Business suite, including Lodging, Restaurants, and Ecommerce. You will work with product managers, engineers, and other designers to create intuitive, impactful designs that address complex compliance challenges. The role applies user-centered design principles and AI capabilities to improve product usability and quality. It also includes mentoring junior designers and staying current with industry trends, techniques, and tools.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in UX design, with a portfolio showcasing the design process and final deliverables.
- Proficiency with AI tooling and experience using AI and AI-related technologies.
- Expert knowledge of product sales and customer onboarding UX.
- Proficiency with Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar design tools.
- Experience with user research methodologies and usability testing.
- Deep understanding of user-centered design principles and best practices.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
Responsibilities
- Lead design from concept to delivery, including research, wireframing, prototyping, and visual design.
- Drive AI implementations that create highly usable experiences.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define solutions that shape product direction, visuals, and the overall experience.
- Conduct user research and usability testing, and refine designs based on user feedback and business requirements.
- Create design documentation, including user flows, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes.
- Mentor junior designers, share best practices, and encourage continuous improvement.
- Stay current with industry trends and incorporate new techniques and tools into the design process.
- Apply AI to business challenges to improve efficiency, contribute solutions, and drive results; stay curious about AI trends and share learnings.
